Vacation

We just got back from four days in Whistler. We spend a week there every summer, for about 10 years now.

When they announced the Olympics, my first thought was that it would ruin the town. But now after all the noise, Whistler will be the one place that benefits. The parking lot is paved. The dirty pedestrian pathway to the upper village is getting cement tiles. The road from Vancouver is (for the moment) safer and quicker. There's a Peak-to-Peak gondola for people who somehow find themselves on the wrong mountain.

Plus, and this is what makes me say Whistler will be better off after the Olympics, most of the events aren't even at Whistler. Only the Alpine skiing is up there. The other stuff is lower down. The ski jump is close to Whistler, but all the rest is on the North Shore, Vancouver, or even Richmond (go figure). The athlete's village which is taking up a lot of the news is in Vancouver.

Whistler itself will come out looking great.

First Post

Hi,

This is Khorps, most recently from Kongregate.

Originally, I chose the name for a character I played in the old Asheron's Call. I tended to run in swinging without bothering to check first, and so I left a lot of corpses lying around, thus 'Khorps' was born. Eventually I got tired of seeing "Corpse of Khorps" littering the landscape. I died a lot in other games, AC2, AO, Ruler of the Seas among them, but found myself immune to the draw of WoW.

Plus I have three kids. So I no longer have the time nor the energy late at night.

So, there it is then.
